A Study of Autonomous Agent Navigation Algorithms in the ANIMAT Environment

چکیده
This paper is dealt with the examination of possibilities of the algorithm of autonomous agent navigation. The ANIMAT problem was proposed to study the possibilities of ZCS classifier system learning. A ZCS classifier system is purely reactive. For this system it is essential to have a possibility to identify the global state of the environment by the input message. This shortens the application area of the system and its ability to solve complex tasks. The present paper proposes to build an alternative learning algorithm that would be able to cope with the above mentioned problems. The effectiveness of the suggested algorithm is tested via practical experiments. In the experiments performed the algorithm has demonstrated its essential superiority over a classifier system with temporary memory.

متن کاملActive Perception in Virtual Humans
We propose and demonstrate a new paradigm for active vision research which draws upon recent advances in the fields of artificial life and computer graphics. A software alternative to the prevailing hardware vision mindset, animat vision prescribes artificial animals, or animats, situated in physicsbased virtual worlds as autonomous virtual robots with active perception systems. To be operative...
متن کاملSOVEREIGN: An autonomous neural system for incrementally learning planned action sequences to navigate towards a rewarded goal
How do reactive and planned behaviors interact in real time? How are sequences of such behaviors released at appropriate times during autonomous navigation to realize valued goals? Controllers for both animals and mobile robots, or animats, need reactive mechanisms for exploration, and learned plans to reach goal objects once an environment becomes familiar. The SOVEREIGN (Self-Organizing, Visi...

Both animals and mobile robots, or animats, need adaptive control systems to guide their movements through a novel environment. Such control systems need reactive mechanisms for exploration, and learned plans to efficiently reach goal objects once the environment is familiar. How reactive and planned behaviors interact together in real time, and are released at the appropriate times, during aut...
متن کاملLearning reactive and planning rules in a motivationally autonomous animat
This work describes a control architecture based on a hierarchical classifier system. This system, which learns both reactive and planning rules, implements a motivationally autonomous animat that chooses the actions it performs according to its perception of the external environment, to its physiological or internal state, to the consequences of its current behavior, and to the expected conseq...
